Suphanahongse Awards: die thailändischen Oscars

Auch die thailändische Filmindustrie hat ihre eigenen Film-Awards. Am 22. Februar, also am gleichen Tag wie die diesjährige Oscar-Verleihung, wurden die Suphanahongse (Goldener Schwan) Awards verliehen. Hier sind nun die Gewinner (in rot markiert).

IFFR: Tiger Award geht nach Iran, Türkei und Südkorea

Am Freitag Abend wurden in Rotterdam die Tiger Awards des Internationalen Filmfestivals verliehen. Aus 14 Erstlings- und Zweitwerken von internationalen Regisseuren wurden folgende drei Filme mit dem Preis geehrt:

Be Calm And Count To Seven von Ramtin Lavafipour (Iran, 2008)
Die Jury: "We were extremely impressed by the artistry and vigor of the first film - the level of craft and cinematic intelligence on the one hand, the dedication to rendering the reality of a particular way of life on the other. For us, this film did what all films strive to do: it represented and dramatized a way of life in terms that were at once specific and universal, not to mention unfailingly vivid."

Wrong Rosary von Mahmut Fazil Coskun (Türkei, 2008)
Die Jury: "A uniquely creative film of the most eloquent simplicity, a film built from a feeling of immediacy, moment by moment, breath by breath; a film that builds an absolutely unique form of suspense; a film that stays true to itself from beginning to end."

Breathless von Yang Ik-June (South Korea, 2008)
Die Jury: "A powerfully rendered and acted film with a keen sense of reality in its portrayal of a situation that has been seldom seen in cinema. We were also surprised to see an extremely troubling subject matter treated with a welcome sense of warmth and humor."

Oscar-Nominierungen für den besten ausländischen Film

Die Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences hat die Vorauswahlliste der Nominierungen für die "Besten ausländischer Film" Kategorie der diesjährigen Academy Awards - sprich die Oscars - bekanntgegeben.

Die folgende Liste mit neun Titeln wird bis zu der Verleihung der Awards am 22. Februar auf fünf Titel durch eine erneute Wahl der riesigen Jury reduziert.

Einige Überraschungen gibt es. So ist nur ein asiatischer Vertreter dabei: Departures von Regisseur Yojiro Takita aus Japan.

International Film Festival Rotterdam: Asien im Wettbewerb

Die ersten Filme für den Wettbewerb um den VPRO Tiger Award bei den International Film Festival in Rotterdam vom 21. Januar bis zum 1. Februar, sind bekanntgegeben worden.

Darunter sind auch vier Filme aus Asien. Im Wettbewerb läuft Breathless aus Korea von Regisseur Yang Ik-June, Dark Harbour aus Japan von Regisseur Naito Takatsugu, No Puedo Vivir Sin Ti von Leon Dai aus Taiwan und Blind Pig Who Wants To Fly von Regisseur Edwin aus Indonesien.

Insgesamt laufen 15 Filme im Wettbewerb, weitere werden Anfang Januar bekanntgegeben.

Die Jury die letztendlich den Gewinnerfilm auswählt besteht dieses Mal aus der südafrikanischen Künstlerin Marlene Dumas, der türkischen Filmemacherin Yesim Ustaoglu (Pandora's Box), dem ungarischen Regisseur Kornél Mundruczó (Delta) und dem koreanischen Regisseur wie auch Leiter der Film Academy in Seoul Park Ki-Yong (Motel Cactus, Camel(s)).

Gewinner der 7. Korean Film Awards

Donnerstag Abend wurde die 7. Verleihung der Korea Film Awards in Seoul ausgerichtet.

Der Abräumer des Abends war The Chaser mit insgesamt sieben Auszeichnungen: Bester Film, Bester Hauptdarsteller für Kim Yun-Seok, Bestes Drehbuch, Beste Beleuchtung, Bester Schnitt und Bester Regisseur/Bester Nachwuchsregisseur für Na Hong-Jin.

Der erfolgreiche Korea-Western The Good, The Bad And The Weird von Regisseur/Autor Kim Ji-Woon (A Bittersweet Life, A Tale Of Two Sisters) wurde mit vier Auszeichungen für die eher technischen Kategorien Beste Cinematographie, Beste Art-Direction, Bester Sound und Beste visuelle Effekte geehrt.

Für Crush And Blush (aka Miss Carrot) gab es zwei Auszeichnungen für Gong Hyo-Jin (Beste Hauptdarstellerin) und für Seo Woo (Beste Nachwuchsschauspielerin).

Die Auszeichnung für den Besten Nebendarsteller bekam Park Hee-Soon für sein Schauspiel in Seven Days (auf DVD erhältlich), als Beste Nebendarstellerin wurde Kim Ji-Young für Forever The Moment (bereits auf DVD erschienen) ausgezeichnet.

Bleibt noch die Auszeichnung für den Besten Nachwuchsschauspieler, der an Kang Ji-Whan für Rough Cut (erscheint Ende Dezember auf DVD) ging, sowie für die Beste Musik, den sich der Film GoGo 70s sichern konnte.
